 Polycarbonate Window Advantages

  • Extreme impact resistance: Polycarbonate is up to 250 times stronger than glass, making it nearly unbreakable under typical road or off-road impacts.

  • Weather and temperature resistance: Provides superior thermal insulation compared to glass, helping maintain consistent interior temperatures year‑round, and performs reliably in extreme heat or cold without warping or becoming brittle.

  • Lightweight construction: It weighs roughly 50% less than glass, improving vehicle handling, fuel efficiency, and ease of installation.

  • High durability: The formed material withstands vibration, flexing, and rough terrain without cracking or loosening.

  • Optic Armor scratch‑resistant coating: adds a tough exterior layer that prevents surface wear, swirls, and haze, ensuring long‑term optical quality even after years of exposure and cleaning.

  • Shatterproof safety: Polycarbonate is far less likely to crack or shatter from rocks, branches, or debris, improving occupant safety and security.

  • DIY-friendly fabrication: It can be easily cut, drilled, and shaped using basic power tools like jigsaws, circular saws, and drills.

  • Custom build adaptability: Ideal for creating custom fan cutouts, vents, and window shapes in Ford Transit and other van builds.

  • UV protection: UV-stabilized formulations prevent yellowing and protect against long-term sun damage.

  • Optical clarity: Modern polycarbonate sheets maintain excellent transparency and minimal distortion, even in curved installations.

  • Chemical and corrosion resistance: Resists damage from road salt, cleaning agents, and environmental contaminants.

  • Improved security: The strength and flexibility make it harder to break into, offering a clear advantage for vehicles carrying gear or valuables.

  • Reduced noise transmission: Slightly better acoustic insulation than glass, softening road and wind noise inside the cabin.

Advantages of 20% VLT UV-Stabilized Tinted Polycarbonate Over Factory Glass

  • Interior temperature management: Offers enhanced temperature control and energy efficiency by minimizing heat transfer through the panels. This helps maintain a more stable cabin environment in both hot and cold conditions, even under direct sunlight or freezing temperatures.

  • Superior solar control: 20% VLT tint blocks more sunlight and glare, improving visibility and driving comfort.

  • Increased privacy: The deep tint limits interior visibility for a cleaner, stealthier look that suits adventure vans and off-grid rigs.

  • UV protection enhancement: Blocks up to 99% of harmful UV rays, preserving interior upholstery, finishes, and stored gear.

  • No peeling or bubbling: The pigment and UV resistance are built into the material, not applied as a film.

  • Long-term color stability: Tinted polycarbonate resists fading or discoloration even after prolonged exposure to the elements.

  • Improved security tint: The darker VLT adds discretion, helping conceal valuable equipment or cargo from view.

  • Energy efficiency benefit: By minimizing solar gain and heat loss, it reduces reliance on vehicle climate control, improving battery or fuel usage on extended trips.

EXCLUSIVELY OPTIC ARMOR WINDOWS

Key advantages of our polycarbonate windows:

Premium polycarbonate windows match the exact perimeter and shape of OEM sizes for medium/high roof models, while offering endless customization potential. Unlike traditional glass, our polycarbonate windows provide unparalleled impact resistance—up to 250 times stronger—while being lightweight, easier to handle, and offering better thermal insulation to help keep interiors warmer in winter and cooler in summer. This allows you to create custom window openings for vents, fan cutouts, or panoramic views without compromising safety, durability, or comfort. With exceptional optical clarity, UV protection, superior scratch resistance, and improved insulation performance compared to standard glass, these windows enhance both the look of your van and its real‑world usability.

Tailor your conversion precisely to your vision with versatile, rugged polycarbonate windows that stand up to the road, the elements, and shifting climates.

Every window is factory shaped and formed to be bonded directly to the van body using the supplied adhesive, with the frit band defining exactly where the adhesive belongs. The black‑out area hides your bead from the exterior so even first‑time installers can achieve a clean result. Because the polycarbonate is formed to the body shape and cut to the factory opening, alignment is straightforward: dry‑fit, mask, cut, apply adhesive to the frit area, and set the window in place. Once cured, the bond is structural, watertight, and ready for the road.

PoeCo works exclusively with Optic Armor for the production of all its window offerings, drawing on this long history in high‑performance racing and industrial manufacturing. This close collaboration stems from a long professional connection and background of PoeCo’s founder, Chuck Poe.

Chuck began his career with the company that became Optic Armor as a salesman when they first developed its groundbreaking proprietary polycarbonate window manufacturing process. Recognizing the clarity, strength, and craftsmanship of the product, he worked directly with major polycarbonate material manufacturers to help bring the technology to larger markets, which led to rapid company promoting him to International Sales Manager and years later Director of Operations. In that role, Chuck helped the company scale its reach even more offering products to OEM markets to include buses, heavy equipment, and specialty applications, while continuing to serve racing and motorcycle industries with performance‑driven products. Over a decade in sales, production and leadership gave him an intimate understanding of how these windows are designed, formed, and tested for strength and longevity.

After moving into a career in technical education in 2011, Chuck carried that knowledge forward has has now combined it with his new personal passion for Ford Transit camper and DIY conversions, and PoeCo was born from that combination—a builder’s insight paired with the confidence of someone who knows every step of how these windows are crafted. Located just ten miles from the Optic Armor manufacturing plant, PoeCo maintains a close, in‑person working relationship with the production team, allowing constant collaboration and immediate feedback so each product batch maintains the precision, fit, and quality customers expect.
